Walnut Highboy

This walnut was brought to me by a woman whose grandfather had milled these trees 60 years previous.  She asked me could I possibly make a piece of furniture from this wood.  When I saw these boards, I was enthralled, and said, with a gleam of ideation that was tremendously exciting, “Yes, I think I can.”

This highboy is made from the logs her grandfather milled with inlays of maple and marquetry.  Though the photos don’t show the actual size, this piece is 7 feet long by 42 inches tall and sits in the dining room of a grand estate.
